Open all mail immediately. Make sure you keep an overview

Lay out bills and bank statements by date and type by type. That way you know when to pay what and to whom. It is also a good idea to keep a household book. It shows all your income and expenses: how much money comes in and how much goes out. 

Stick to these rules of thumb

If you learn these rules of thumb, you are much less likely to run into money problems.

  • Check your balance and expenses weekly
  • Plan your income and expenses annually
  • Save 10 percent of your income each month
  • Save Your records in an orderly manner and keep track of
    • One-time: setting up administration
    • Daily: opening (digital) mail
    • Weekly: updating records and making payments
    • Monthly: review details (with partner)
    • Annual: clean up records thoroughly

Then go to Our Signpost. Here you will find all information about help with money matters. You can also visit the Onze Wegwijzer counter at the Weeffabriek in Geldrop. Volunteers give you advice and try to answer your question directly. If not, they will put you in touch with the right people.

Surcharges & contributions

Are you struggling to make ends meet? Is it hard to pay all the bills every month? We would like to give you a hand. The government offers all kinds of allowances and contributions, for example for rent, healthcare, childcare and daily expenses.

Benefits

You may have an income too low to live due to unemployment, long-term illness or retirement. In such a situation, it may be possible to apply for benefits such as welfare, AOW and WIA.
